Kavaratti is the most developed of the islands with the highest percentage of non-islanders as residents. Fifty-two mosques are spread out over the island, the most beautiful being the Ujra mosque. The Ajara and Jamnath mosques (of the 52 on the island) have the best wood carving and the former has a particularly good ceiling carved out of driftwood; a well within is believed to have medicinal water.
Minicoy
It is located 200 Km. away to the south and also nearer to the Maldives.The Minicoy beach means "Majestic" in the regional dialect. Mahl is the spoken language unlike the other islands where Malayalam is used. Visitors are allowed up, right to the very top. Words cannot do justice to the incredible size of the lagoon, one of the largest in Lakshadweep , the green of coconut trees, and the mirror-like surface of an inland lake as it nestles in one corner of the island.
Bangaram
Bangaram is the most exotic beach in Lakshadweep islands. It can also be called as Jewel of the Lakshadweep.It is covering an area of 128 acres. The teardrop-shaped island has superb beaches and beautiful lagoons. The wealth of coral formation (including black coral) attracts a variety of tropical fish-angel, clown, butterfly, surgeon, sweet lip, snappers and groupers. There are also manta and stingrays, harmless sharks and green and hawksbill turtles. Windsurfing, scuba diving, parasailing, water skiing and snorkeling. Deep-sea fishing is possible on local boats with crew.
Agatti
The palm fringed western beach of Agatti is indeed heaven on Earth, one of the nature's treasures at Lakshadweep Islands . Soothe yourself in the combination of the sun, sand and the sea. Agatti boasts of being the only island in Lakshadweep with an airport. Thus the entire air transportation between the Lakshadweep islands and the Indian mainland takes place through Agatti. Thus, Agatti is rightly addressed as the "Gateway to the Lakshadweep Islands ". While at Agatti do not miss the experience of the fiberglass boats and the country canoes cruises.
