The climate of the State remains cool throughout the year. Meghalaya is the only state in the country where several waterfalls are located. Cherrapunjee is known to receive the world's heaviest rainfall. The state is the home of many rare animals and birds. Wild life includes elephants, tigers, golden cats, monkeys of different types, golden cats, and several types of rare birds.
