Amritsar has various historical and religious sites. The most famous of them all in the Golden Temple which was founded by the fourth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Ramdas and completed by his successor Guru Arjan Dev. Another revered shrine is the Durgiana Temple , which is dedicated to goddess Durga.

Muktsar is connected with the victory of the Sikh forces commanded by the 10th Prophet Sri Guru Gobind Singh over the Mughal forces of the Governor of Sirhind in 1705. Faridkot, the capital of erstwhile Phulkian state, is famous for its fort and palace having remarkable paintings, mirror - work and frescoes designed all over their walls.
Patiala
Patiala is the most famous city in Punjab . Patiala signed its territory over to the Indian union on May 5th, 1948 . Maharajah Sir Yadvinder Singh was given the title of Rajparmukh of the newly created Indian state of PEPSU. He was allowed a privy purse of 17 Lakh rupees for his upkeep and allowed to retain control over all his personal property. Patiala has magnificent Forts, Palaces, and extensive gardens like Quilla Androo Sheesh Mahal, Moti Bagh Palace , Baradari Garden , Art Galleries and National Institute of Sports. Quilla Mubarak, which is still the Nucleus of the city also, houses, impressive armory and chandeliers. Jalandhar
Formerly Jalandhar was like a village and now it has grown so many highly industrialized center of commercial activity. It also claims the privilege of being the sports city of India as not only has it produced some of our finest sports people but also world-class sports equipment, which is produced here. In fact, 12 of India 's greatest hockey players have come from a single village, Sansarpur, in Jalandhar district. Jalandhar boasts of many historic monuments. Prominent among them are the mausoleum of Imran Nasir, the fort at Phillaur which once served as Maharaja Ranjit Singh's line of defense against the British, a Shiv Mandir which dates back to the Lodhi era and the Gurudwara at Kartarpur.
